on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Stiner Pavilion at Waukegan Beach, 201 Sea Horse Dr., Waukegan, Illinois.
The Waukegan Band, under the direction of Mark A. Taylor, will be playing music under the theme of “Jazz:
America’s Classical Music” to conclude its 82nd season of providing free concerts to the community.
The August 8th concert will be the Waukegan Band’s “2017 Fundraising Concert”. The Waukegan Band is a
501c3 non-profit organization that relies solely on the tax deductible donations of sponsors, advertisers and
attendees to defray the costs involved with presenting the free concerts. Donations of any denomination will
be gratefully accepted at the concert, or visit the Waukegan Band website at www.waukeganband.com to
make a donation using PayPal.
“This has been an outstanding season for us” said Music Director Mark A. Taylor of the Waukegan Band. "The
musicians of our ensemble -- from high school players to returning members from many decades -- are all
treasures in their communities. It is a very special thing: the way we come together to perform for such
appreciative audiences. These are incredible opportunities that we don’t take for granted, and the season’s
end is an important time for us to remember that."
With the exception of July 4th, the Waukegan Band has presented a free outdoor concert every Tuesday
evening this summer beginning on June 13th and ending on August 8th . All performances start at 7:30 p.m. at
the Stiner Pavilion, located on the lakefront, overlooking the harbor and beach. Many of the concert goers
have mentioned the beauty of the site, great music and free parking.
Come to this season’s final concert and bring a lawn chair and relax in comfort on the beautiful lakefront while
listening to the music of local Lake County musicians.
