The Milwaukee Festival Brass will be directed by Dr. Mark A. Taylor who will also direct the Waukegan Band. The combined concert will foster relationships between the music environments of Milwaukee and Waukegan.
The concert theme is “Set Sail for Summer” and will feature music selections with nautical and summer themes by each band. The two bands will join forces for a grand finale performing John Philip Sousa’s “Hands Across the Sea”.
Milwaukee Festival Brass,
Founded in 1985, Milwaukee Festival Brass is an award winning brass ensemble made up of volunteer brass and percussion players from all walks of life, both young and old from all over Southeastern Wisconsin. Led by its esteemed Director, Dr. Mark A. Taylor, they have added their own unique flair to a repertoire ranging from classics to contemporary selections using traditional British Brass Band instruments. The Milwaukee Festival Brass supports its strong cultural foundation, and is dedicated to developing younger brass and percussion musicians.
With the exception of July 4th, the Waukegan Band will present a free outdoor concert every Tuesday evening this summer beginning on June 13th and ending on August 8th. All performances start at 7:30 p.m. at the Stiner Pavilion, located on the lakefront, overlooking the harbor and beach. Many of the concert goers have mentioned the beauty of the site, great music and free parking.
Bring a lawn chair and relax in comfort on the beautiful lakefront while listening to the music of local Lake County musicians.
