The Waukegan Band announced that the ALATS Dance Club will perform in a joint performance with the Waukegan Band on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 7:30 pm at the Stiner Pavilion at Waukegan Beach, 201 Sea Horse Dr., Waukegan, Illinois. The concert/performance theme is “Come Dance With Me” and the public is invited at no charge for the concert.
Both groups will provide a combined performance at the end of the concert which will include choreographed selections from ‘A Chorus Line’ as well as the March from Gustav Holsts’ ‘First Suite in E-Flat.’
ALATS Dance Club, directed by Cory Ratliff, meets at the Sign of the Dove church 424 10th Street in Waukegan. Cory Ratliff stated that, “The ALATS Dance Club encourages children in movement to communicate the message of the Gospel. Students learn floor, jazz, hip hop and African styles of dance. ”
Waukegan Band’s music director, Mark A. Taylor stated, “Both the Waukegan Band and ALATS are committed to providing opportunities for creative expression to members of the community. We are delighted to be sharing the stage with the ALATS dancers."
With the exception of July 4th, the Waukegan Band presents a free outdoor concert every Tuesday evening this summer beginning on June 13th and ending on August 8th. All performances start at 7:30 p.m. at the Stiner Pavilion, located on the lakefront, overlooking the harbor and beach. Many of the concert goers have mentioned the beauty of the site, great music and free parking.
