For 2016, the Band will be under the direction of its new Music Director, Mark A. Taylor. Band President, Tim Reust, stated, “Mark A. Taylor was selected to be the Waukegan Band’s Music Director because of his impeccable credentials, extensive conducting experience, and ideal fit for the culture of the Band and community. We are looking forward to Mark A. Taylor’s direction for 2016.”
Mark A. Taylor comes to the Waukegan Band with an outstanding background as he has been the Music Director and Conductor of the nationally award-winning Milwaukee Festival Brass for three seasons. A conductor, educator, and performer in demand throughout the Great Lakes region, Mr. Taylor served five years as director of bands and coordinator of ensembles at Loyola University Chicago prior to beginning his doctoral studies. He was also a member of the music education faculty for the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
The Band’s 2016 concert series is entitled “Waukegan Band – An American Classic”. Some themes of individual concerts will be “Everyone Loves a March!”, “Celebrating our Youth” and “Great American Songbook”.
On Tuesday, July 19, 2016, the Waukegan Band is proud to present the 85th Army Band for a joint concert with the theme “Saluting our Armed Forces”.
